Most valuable Charizard cards

1st Edition🔥
Base Set 1st Edition Shadowless Charizard
1999 · Base Set · 4/102

The holy grail of the hobby: the first English print run of the original Charizard holo.

Look for the small "Edition 1" stamp just below the bottom-left corner of the art box.
Reported sale: $420,000 for a PSA 10 copy at a PWCC auction in March 2022.
Secret rare💎
Skyridge Crystal Charizard
2003 · Skyridge · 146/144

A Crystal-type secret rare, numbered higher than the set itself.

Skyridge was the last English set made by Wizards of the Coast, so it was printed in small numbers.
Reverse holo🎆
Legendary Collection Reverse Holo Charizard
2002 · Legendary Collection · 3/110

The classic artwork, reprinted with a shiny pattern across the whole card instead of only the art.

Collectors call its reverse holo pattern the "fireworks" pattern.
Pokémon-ex⚡
EX FireRed & LeafGreen Charizard ex
2004 · EX FireRed & LeafGreen · 105/112

A heavy hitter from the ex era, when the strongest cards carried a lowercase "ex".

When a Pokémon-ex was knocked out, your opponent took 2 prize cards instead of 1.
VMAX🔥
Charizard VMAX
2022 · Black Star Promo · SWSH261

Gigantamax Charizard in full VMAX art. A modern collector favourite.

VMAX cards are Gigantamax Pokémon. This one has 330 HP.

Only the sale shown is a reported past sale, not a current price. Card values change all the time.

Trivia

Charizard looks like a dragon but is Fire / Flying. Only Mega Charizard X is a Dragon type.
It first appeared in the very first Pokémon games, Red and Green, released in Japan in 1996.
It has two Mega Evolutions, which very few Pokémon have.
Its shiny form swaps the orange for black.
"It spits fire hot enough to melt boulders, and its flame burns brightest when it faces a strong opponent."
